Right now the corona virus has taken its terrible form and no cure has yet been discovered. On the other hand, a new virus has taken birth, yes I am talking about HantaVirus which has come as a fresh threat.

The latest report of Hantavirus (24.03.2020) quoted from Hindustan Times. According to which a man has died due to the virus in Yunnan Zi, South China. Under the boarding of a bus and about 32 people on that bus are also being investigated.

In 2016, a case of hantavirus was reported in Mumbai in which a 12-year-old boy died due to saliva, urine, which is usually found in the feces of mice and squirrels.

What is hantavirus disease?

According to the World Health Organization, HPS is a zoonotic (which can spread from animals to humans) viral respiratory disease, which can spread from mice / mice.
Hantaviruses are found in various parts of the world in wild rodents, such as mice and rats. Hantavirus, found in North America, causes pulmonary syndrome of the lungs, a serious lung disease that can be fatal. In the US, human hantavirus infection was first identified in the southwest in 1993.
Hentaviruses are known in the US as the "New World", while other hentaviruses are known as the "Old World", mostly in Europe and Asia.

How does hantavirus disease occur?

Hantavirus spreads in people from wild rodents, especially mice and rats. Any infected rodent (mice / squirrel) who comes in contact with droplets, urine, saliva, nesting substances or particles from them can have hantavirus disease. The virus, which is found in rodent urine, saliva and feces (poop), spreads to the air and the virus passes into the body through breath and is the most common way of getting infected. Touching your mouth or nose can also get infected after touching contaminants or litter. Rodents / mice bites can also spread the virus.

What are the symptoms of hantavirus disease, and how long after infection?

Symptoms of this hantavirus occur 9–33 days after entering the body, but symptoms may appear in a week or up to eight weeks late. Early symptoms are common and include fever, fatigue, and muscle aches. Other symptoms may include headache, nausea (feeling of sickness in the stomach), vomiting, diarrhea (loose stool / defecation) and dizziness. As the disease progresses, the main symptom of a hantavirus infection is difficulty in breathing. Infected people sometimes die of respiratory failure or shock. Mild illnesses do not require hospitalization.

What is the treatment of hantavirus?

Hanntavirus disease has no specific treatment, cure, or vaccine, like the coronavirus. If hantavirus patients receive treatment early, life can be saved and the condition can be improved. If the suspicion of hantavirus disease is high, patients are transferred to the emergency department or intensive care unit for immediate monitoring and care. Taxes can save lives.

 How to avoid hantavirus?

1. If a room or cabin has been closed for a long time, before using it, open them for at least 30 minutes to let the dirty air out.

2. If sleeping outside, check the urine droplets of animals such as rat squirrels etc.

3. Avoid sleeping near woodpiles or trash fields, which are usually home to mice and squirrels.

4. Avoid sleeping directly on the ground, use a tent with a mat or high plinth.

5. Do not keep food leftover at home, it can attract mice and squirrels.

6. Store food items and throw, burn or burn garbage immediately as per camping rules.

7. Avoid close contact with people who are ill.

8. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

9. Stay home when sick and see a doctor.
